Stira manufacture some of the safest and strongest loft ladder systems available so they feel like a set of stairs underfoot as opposed to a ladder.

We can also install your Stira loft ladder system in a completely new location/room if required. This involves creating a new opening. This is often the only option if your current opening is in a tight spot and can’t be adjusted or extended as required. We can also install into lath and plaster ceilings. Both these services incur extra cost which our surveyor assessor will confirm with you should they be applicable.

Please note: Should extra works need to be carried out such as taking up flooring, removing existing insulation, having to box out an area to make it work, or attending to a customers personal request, these extra works which incur extra cost.

Technical information:

* Independently tested and certified by Building Envelope Technologies Ltd. (BET) up to 600 Pa (pascals) pressure, achieving the highest classification of Class 4 to BS EN 1026: 2016 – Windows and doors – Air permeability – Test method.

** Independently tested and calculated by Building Envelope Technologies Ltd. (BET) to achieving a u-value of 0.16 W/m2K in a typical ceiling.

When the Stira Cosy+ loft ladder system is fitted to a typical ceiling with 300mm mineral wool insulation a u-value of 0.16 W/m2K can be achieved. Building Regulation TGD Part L 2022 for dwellings states the maximum elemental u-value for a ceiling is 0.16 W/m2K. Fitting the Stira Cosy+ loft ladder system to the appropriate roof build-up will align with Part L of the building regulations and assist a dwelling in achieving an A rating.

Swing clearance required: 1690mm in total. This is 500mm added to the frame length. For tighter spaces, our installer can adapt your system with our “double action hinge” option.

Landing space required: 1420mm in total. This is 230mm added to the frame length.

However, there is no need for you to do the working out. Our highly skilled installers will do all that for you and suggest the best options for you and your home.
